Through Mission Initiatives, the New Jersey Synod and the ELCA partner with groups of congregations to renew a sense of mission, and strengthen capacity for witness in changing circumstances.
v Shared Mission Initiative – Congregations in Lindenwold, Magnolia, Collingswood, Haddon Heights, Mt. Ephraim, Audubon are engaged in Transformational Ministry for intentional outreach to their communities. View the TENT EVENT photos!
v Meadowlands Mission Initiative – Congregations inTeaneck, Fairview, Ridgefield, Leonia, Secaucus, Bogota, Hackensack, Maywood, Hasbrouck Heights, Garfield are strengthening each other to witness without fear or limitation to the love of God in Jesus Christ.
v Gateway Mission Oval – Congregations in Linden, Carteret, Rahway, Elizabeth and North Plainfield are preparing themselves to reach out to an increasingly multicultural population in their midst.
v Mission Possible in Jersey City – the Lutheran congregations of Jersey City and Hoboken are working together to determine the shape of their urban ministry for the 21st Century, setting goals and planning strategically.
v Large Congregation Mission Initiative - The New Jersey Synod has invited 20 congregations around the synod whose weekly worship attendance averages are over 200 to consider together the special circumstances of their ministries, in order to intentionally face the challenges of continuing to grow.
