MENTAL HEALTH FIRST AID TRAINING

Knowing how to respond in a moment of crisis can change someone’s life. This fall, we invite you to be part of a powerful and practical training that equips you to do just that.

On Saturday, September 13, Cross Roads is hosting Mental Health First Aid, a one-day in-person training led by Rev. Annemarie H. Cook. This nationally recognized course will give you the tools and confidence to support someone who may be struggling with a mental health challenge, substance use concern, or thoughts of suicide.

Just like CPR prepares you to assist someone in physical distress, Mental Health First Aid teaches you how to respond when someone is experiencing a mental health crisis. Through thoughtful instruction, real-life scenarios, and a 5-step action plan, you’ll walk away better prepared to recognize warning signs, listen without judgment, and connect people with the help they need.

TRAINING DETAILS:

  • Who: This training is valuable for everyone—especially those who work with youth, in ministry, in education, or in community care. If you want to be more prepared to support someone in need, this course is for you.

  • When: Saturday, September 13, 2025

  • Time: 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM (Check-in opens at 9:00 AM, training begins at 9:30 AM)

  • Where: Cross Roads Camp and Retreat Center

  • Facilitator: Rev. Annemarie H. Cook

  • Cost: $55/participant

“Our synod office is located on land which is part of the traditional territory of the Lenni-Lenape, called “Lenapehoking.” The Lenape People lived in harmony with one another upon this territory for thousands of years. During the colonial era and early federal period, many were removed west and north, but some also remain among the continuing historical tribal communities of the region: The Nanticoke Lenni-Lenape Tribal Nation; the Ramapough Lenape Nation; and the Powhatan Renape Nation, The Nanticoke of Millsboro Delaware, and the Lenape of Cheswold Delaware. We acknowledge the Lenni-Lenape as the original people of this land and their continuing relationship with their territory. In our acknowledgment of the continued presence of Lenape people in their homeland, we affirm the aspiration of the great Lenape Chief Tamanend, that there be harmony between the indigenous people of this land and the descendants of the immigrants to this land, “as long as the rivers and creeks flow, and the sun, moon, and stars shine.”
